At its core, our approach is a process for defining problems, building partnerships to find solutions, and managing and measuring progress. Through creating an environment where the City innovates together, supported at the highest level with political and corporate partnership we are focusing our collaborative energy to deliver shared goals and inspire action that contributes towards sustainable change.
We believe that enabling people and communities to play a role in tackling social problems is the best way to effect change. It is vital to provide opportunity for discussion and input to defining the type of future that Exeter wants, the challenges that need to be overcome and the types of solutions that are suitable for the people who live and work here. Exeter City Futures engages with all sectors of the City - leadership, business and communities - to build shared goals, agree challenges and focus collaborative energy for change.
We believe that data can enable change. Key to our approach is developing clear and well-defined challenges based on the analysis of city data along with an engaged, data-aware community. By collecting, sharing and analysing data on a city level, we can start to understand the impact we each have on Exeter and how we can influence, drive and measure transformation.
We believe that by bringing together citizens, entrepreneurs, public and private sectors around a shared understanding of the real challenges stimulates innovation and accelerates the development of the types of solutions we need to find. Exeter City Futures provides a framework whereby innovative individuals, communities and businesses can respond to clear challenges that address real need within the City. We will accelerate ideas with the potential to achieve greatest impact via our start-up accelerator and other channels to deliver impactful progress against the goals.Find out more at Exeter Velocities
We believe that with access to capital and the right enabling environment we can deliver scalable solutions that can deliver impact on the City's goals and provide a better quality of life for all. Access to capital comes from unlocking the huge local cash-flows in inefficient city systems which can be used to create investable propositions for capital markets. Exeter City Futures is defining challenges that have customers and investors lined up ready to accelerate impact and economic return. This value chain approach is essential to realising sustainable change without reliance on government subsidy.
The first set of Exeter City Futures challenges are now live. Following the voting stage of our community platform the most popular statements have been turned into clear challenges for entrepreneurs, educators, and SMEs to apply. Find out more below.View Challenges
