Exeter City Futures’ Connect Events
Our Connect events provide an open platform, bringing together residents, communities, local businesses, charities and city stakeholders to listen and support community-initiated projects that help Exeter work towards its ambition to be carbon neutral by 2030.
Each Connect event will be framed around a key theme in which we invite change makers to get involved by presenting their community-led projects to share knowledge and inspire future community initiatives in other wards across the city.
Our Connect events currently take place online and are hosted through the Zoom platform.
Starting with five-minute pitches and moving to tabling breakout rooms where presenters can take questions and hold discussion about their projects, we hope this format offers a creative and collaborative environment and fosters a vibrant community of Exeter change makers.
Exeter City Futures’ Connect Events are supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.

About The National Lottery Community Fund
In December 2019, Exeter City Futures was awarded a £250K grant from The National Lottery Community Fund’s Reaching Communities Programme. Over three years, the funding will enable Exeter City Futures to develop collaborative relationships between communities and businesses, working on a shared goal of a healthy and sustainable Exeter.
Part of this funding enables Exeter City Futures to continue the delivery of our Connect events, bringing together residents, communities, local businesses, charities, and city stakeholders to listen and lend support to community-initiated projects that help Exeter work towards its ambition to be carbon neutral by 2030. Each Connect event is framed around a key theme in which we invite local change-makers to present their community-led projects to share knowledge, ask for support and inspire future community initiatives.
In 2020, Exeter City Futures delivered 4x online Connect events, supporting 21 projects to share their community or volunteer-led initiative and hosted 114 attendees, and we look forward to developing our 2021 and 2022 Connect Event series.
